Week 4: Gilbert/Matthew

Gilbert looked at Matthew for a moment, then stretched out his arm as he shifted closer to the younger man, placing his arm over his shoulders. He kicked out his leg and bumped it under the blond man's so that his ankle rested on Gilbert's.

He gripped the man's shoulder in a one armed hug, but turned his gaze out to the rink. "Don't play stupid." He took a sip of his now warm beer with his free hand. "You must know that you're like...this crazy sexy thing when you go into hockey fan mode."

His cheeks grew slightly red and he just took another sip of his drink.

“A crazy…sexy thing? You’re serious?” Matthew laughed, relieved, and leaned in closer to Gilbert so that he was practically resting his head on his outstretched arm. “I guess I’ve been worried for nothing, then.”

Though Matthew really had thought that it would turned out like the very few other times someone he knew had seen him watch hockey, and had nearly (and in one case, actually) run in the opposite direction. They would definitely disagree with Gilbert’s description. Well, okay, maybe not the crazy part. It suddenly occurred to he just how lucky he was to find someone who was willing to join in on an activity that he loved and, when he inevitably got carried away, not only tolerated it but found it sort of hot.

And eventually Matthew would need to figure out how to explain this to Gilbert in words, and he'd also need to do something for him in return.

Gilbert finished his beer then placed it down beside him. He guessed he must be odd because Matthew truly seemed shocked that he would enjoy watching the blond curse up a storm and dropping vulgarities every which way. He supposed he might be sick in the head, but that was fine with him. The young man under his arm seemed to appreciate his madness at any rate.

He surprised himself by wishing to comfort him and leaning over to lay a soft, quick kiss on Matthew's neck. He pulled back quickly and watched the ice ahead.

"So...um," Gilbert figeted in his seat. "Do you get like this when you watch hockey on TV as well? Or is it just a 'in person' thing?"

Matthew had been looking off to the side when he felt lips against his neck. Yet it was so quick that he could just as well have imagined it. He looked over at Gilbert, who was now staring at the ice. He smiled softly before answering his question.

“Yeah, I do. But if I’m in my own house, it’s not as bad as when—“ Matthew stopped mid-sentence, laughing quietly. What on earth was he saying? He might as well be honest with Gilbert about it. “Okay, that’s a total lie, and sometimes it can be even worse.”

Before he could decide whether or not to tell Gilbert that he had even accidentally broken furniture on numerous occasions, movement out of the corner of his eye told him the third period was starting. Despite learning that his date didn’t mind his reactions to the game, Matthew wanted to keep his cool, if only to see for himself if it was possible. It was only twenty minutes…how hard could it be?

Gilbert felt his mind reel at the possibilities of a TV in a bedroom with Matthew watching a hockey game. He was a sick person.

The game was starting again, that much he at least knew. The albino looked at his arm draped over Matthew's shoulders and wondered if he should remove it to avoid a pain when--and he was certain it would be when and not if--Matthew decided to surge upward to cry out. He decided that the younger man didn't look terribly strong, though he had never seen him without a shirt on, and so decided to leave his arm where it lay. He'd just be surprised if he was wrong.

Gilbert crossed his legs as the game restarted.

Matthew had lasted a good five minutes before losing himself in the game once more. He’d been perfectly fine too, until he looked at the scoring and realized that the Leafs were losing. After that, he grew more attentive before eventually shooting out of his seat, yelling just as he had before.

“No, no, goddamnit, no! You’d better turn that puck the fuck around, or…”

The rest of his shouting was just as frantic and stayed that way for a while until his team had not only caught up but were ahead by a point. Then, his cries were more elated, if still as loud as it had been before. This time, however, he found himself making extremely quick, self-conscious glances back at Gilbert a couple of times, despite their conversation only minutes before.

Gilbert dodged his arm out of the way of certain pain and grinned like a fool as Matthew flew up to shout at his team. He laughed loudly, but doubted Matthew heard a thing. He watched the young man through the rest of the game until the very end when the Maple Leaves were winning, then Gilbert himself jumped up next to Matthew and began to scream along with the blond.

Although he had no idea why he was yelling, he followed Matthew's lead until the end. When the game came to an end and Matthew's--no, their team--won, Gilbert grabbed Matthew and hugged him. It was very much like 'dudes at a game together' rather than dates, but it felt good.

He didn’t know exactly when Gilbert had joined in, but Matthew was aware the albino yelling alongside him before the game came to an end. Even though he doubted that the other man knew what he was yelling for, exactly, it made him ridiculously happy. So much so, that even if his team hadn’t won (though the victory had been a definite plus), he would have left in a good mood.

Matthew hugged Gilbert back enthusiastically, grinning widely. At some point, with a bit of reluctance, he broke away. “Thank you so much. Really,” he said, smiling stupidly despite his best efforts.

With a snort he began to gather up their trash. "I actually liked coming to a game with you--not the biggest sports person myself, but I..." he trailed off.

He was about to make a joke about Matthew being real entertainment at a hockey game, and while that was more that true, he realized it wasn't why he had enjoyed his time with the other male. Gilbert stood, holding two empty cups and their paper plates. The albino looked at the Canadian with an expression of studiousness. He was not stunning, but more of an easy and natural attractiveness. And Gilbert thought he was one of the sexiest people he'd been on a date with, and he was interested, very interested in getting to know the young man physically.

But, that didn't explain why he would sit through a hockey game he normally wouldn't care about. Or why he genuinely enjoyed the experience enough to look forward to another game. Gilbert tilted his head to the side as he consolidated their used paper ware into one hand so that he could reach out to the other to lightly grip the blond's fingers. He looked down at their embracing digits.

He liked being with Matthew.

Matthew looked at Gilbert, waiting for him to finish what he was saying but instead the albino stopped for a moment, appearing to be deep in thought. He noticed that at one point he was being scrutinized, yet surprisingly, it didn’t make him as uneasy as it normally would have. Instead, he waited patiently, eager to find out how Gilbert would end his thought.

No verbal answer came, though Matthew was far from disappointed. Even though he was unsure as to what Gilbert had been trying to say, he didn’t need to say anything more. He smiled, giving the other’s hand a quick, light squeeze before leaving the stands the opposite the way he had entered.

“We should do something again soon, maybe,” he told Gilbert, realizing that he still hadn’t let go of his hand. That ‘something’ didn’t have to be hockey in particular. In fact, he’d be satisfied with just about anything. Though Matthew would definitely appreciate a setting where he’d be comfortable with more than just hand-holding.

"Yeah...we should." He grinned as he pulled the younger man along with him to the trashcan. He dumped their trash and brushed his hand against his pant leg. He kept his hold on Matthew's hand as they made their way out of the building.

"What do you have in mind?" He asked after a spell. "We could..." he was hesitant to suggest this, but he hoped the Canadian wouldn't be offended. "You could...I dunno cook for me or something like pancakes--or I could cook for you too. It's not like you have to do that if you don't want to."

Gilbert was babbling, so he halted himself and just turned to face Matthew. "Whatever, anything with you would be awesome."

“I’d be happy cook for you, sure!” Matthew thought for a moment, “Unless…unless you want to cook, then you can. Or we can both cook, or…” Accidental rambling was quite endearing when Gilbert did it, but it was just one of those things that were plain embarrassing if it happened to him.

Matthew could only smile brightly at the last thing Gilbert said, and tell him the same thing, though the words only really hit home after they had exited the building. In a spur-of-the-moment decision, he turned his head to kiss him.

He was off by a bit and ended up only kissing his cheek, but he really should’ve expected as much from himself when he acted on impulse. Ah, oh well…

Gilbert was about to say that they could both cook for each other in sort of a partner deal, when he felt soft lips on his cheek, close to the edge of his mouth. He tried not to grin, but failed to hold his composure. He turned his head so that the two men's lips met, dropping his smile and closing his eyes.

For a moment, he just held the contact there in mid air unable to move further. Then, feeling a warmth in his stomach (of all places...) and opened his lips against Matthew's slowly. His hands made their way up to casually rest against the blond's hips as he tastes his mouth. He tried not to lead the kiss, but was becoming egger to explore Matthew's mouth. Instead, he pulled his palm up the other man's shirt and slipped it under to touch the skin at his side. He pressed his fingers lightly along hipbone and wondered what he had been trying to do, again?

Matthew started out a bit nervous, ever paranoid about who could see them. They were in public, after all. But no, he was hardly ever noticed to begin with and he didn't think that this would be any different. And even if it were, he found that he didn't care in the least, much to his own surprise. So he'd let himself enjoy this, without the worry.

One of the first things Matthew noticed as he opened his mouth was how the other tasted faintly of beer, which was to be expected, although it wasn't really unpleasant. He hummed appreciatively into the kiss, welcoming the light touches.

He was unsure as to what to do with his own hands and-- how did that get there? Matthew opened his eyes in surprise, suddenly aware of his one of his hands on the small of Gilbert's back; he must've subconsciously allowed his allowed it to trail slowly downward.

The humming against his lips was unexpected but very pleasant. He moved his mouth against Matthew's as if he could get even closer to the other man. He felt a hand nearly on his butt and opened his eyes slowly only to meet his partner's. He blinked once, frozen mid kiss, then smiled into it and closed his eyes to continue.

Gilbert let go of the blond, despite himself, and gently took Matthew's hand on the small of his back and slid it lower to rest on firm muscle under jeans. He chuckled into the kiss, bringing his hand up to stroke along the Canadian's jaw. He pressed their lower-halves closer until they were barely touching.

When Gilbert froze momentarily, Matthew’s first thought was that the other had become aware of the position of one of his hands, too. He was certain that he was right when Gilbert moved his hand to where it probably would have ended up on its own had he not stopped himself. He could feel his face redden with embarrassment and could hear and even feel the other laugh.

It was then that he became aware of exactly how close they were. If he wanted to, he realized, he could press up against him and… The thought alone was enough to moan, and much too loudly in his opinion. Matthew quickly silenced himself and now it was his turn to freeze. He mentally kicked himself for acting like such a virgin.

(It’s fine, it might happen to me, occasionally, too)

It was the moan. That stupid, vocal, sexy, no way he was able to ignore it, moan. Gilbert felt himself react before his logic could follow the "why" of it. At the sound Matthew made, the kiss went from light exploration and teasing to a forceful intrusion, he was ashamed to say.

Gilbert pressed his lips roughly into the other man's, then nearly hauled him up against the exterior wall of the building they had just come from. Their hips were now touching, Gilbert's grinding into Matthew's as if he wished to occupy the same space. The hand which had been gently caressing the Canadian's jaw, now fisted the back of his hair, with the albino scraping his own knuckles against the wall. His other wrapped around Matthew's back, grasping his shirt at the shoulder.

The kiss had turned to a completely different direction, taking Matthew by surprise. Though he was far from complaining, and not just because it was hard to think with Gilbert moving up against him the way he was. His hands remained at his sides for a while until he moved them at some point, so that he was now clutching the back of Gilbert's shirt.

He found that this position didn't grant him much control over his movements, or of anything, really. At one point he made an attempt to dominate the kiss, his inexperience ensuring his failure right from the start. Matthew made several small noises of frustration, both for this and for a whole other reason entirely.

Something was off. Gilbert could tell that much at least. Matthew was making little noises that went beyond horny young man sounds. He felt the other male attempt to take over the kiss and realized what the problem was. Matthew wanted more control; and Gilbert being the asshole he often was, failed to expect such a thing. He'd seen Mattie in there, watching the hockey game. He was a sweet man, but he was in fact a man. He wasn't some passive playmate to push around.

Gilbert mentally kicked himself and tried to think of a way to make up for this. All he could think to do was to mumble an apology into the other man's mouth, and allow him to take the lead in their kiss. To sweeten the deal, the albino rolled the two so that he was the one with his back pressed against the brick wall, opening up to whatever Matthew would have of him.

And he was surprised to find that he liked it so far.

While this was more than the amount of control he had expected, Matthew wasn’t about to turn down the opportunity the other man had so generously given to him. Really, Gilbert was always so good to him, and instead of breaking off the kiss to say a quick ‘thank you’, Matthew found Gilberts hand and, giving it a light squeeze, hoped it displayed the same meaning.

For the first few moments, Matthew panicked a bit, worried he would mess everything up by not knowing what he was doing. Yet he found that if he thought about it less and just did what came naturally, there was a little more confidence in his actions.

He guided the kiss into something that wasn’t quite as rough as it had been before, yet not as gentle as it had been before that, settling for some sort of fragile middle ground. Though like before he was aware of his roaming hands, still unsure as to where to place them.

The squeeze from Matthew's hand stirred something warm in his chest and he did his best to enjoy the way the other man's lips felt, and not the totally girly emotion welling up within. He grasp the hand which held his, then the other went exploring, but remained in fairly safe territory. Along his partner’s side, the arm, the shoulders, down the back, finally resting on Mattie's hip.

He kept his mouth in check, participating but not dominating. He opened his lips slightly, giving Matthew the go ahead if he wished for it. It felt good, pressed up against the wall, his jeans catching on the rough stone, his moans in Mattie's mouth.

Wait. Gilbert blinked. He was moaning like a complete whore. Or a virgin.

Matthew took his time now, one hand still wandering across the other man, tentatively taking the opportunity to explore Gilbert’s mouth. As much as he was encouraged to continue by the sounds he heard, the very nature of the moans enough to make him slightly flustered as well, though not enough to deter him.

The sound was continuous, so Matthew found it nearly impossible to tell exactly what he was doing right. Oh well, hopefully he’d have other chances soon in which he could figure this out.

Though when the noises he had been so reliant on stopped for a moment, so did Matthew and he looked at Gilbert questioningly for the cause.

He blinked when Matthew stopped and pulled back to look at him. "What?" He tried to read the other male's expression to see what was wrong. He wondered if he'd touched somewhere he shouldn't have.

"I--did I do something?" He felt his hands on Matthew's waist, trying to stabilize them. "I'm sorry if I did. Uh..."

He looked down for a second, then back to Matthew. He didn't want to stop; it felt nearly like a rejection. He wasn't sure he could take it from this person.

Hold on, Gilbert thought that he did something wrong? Matthew caught the slightly hurt expression on his face and cringed inwardly. Smooth move, Williams, he thought to himself while thinking of a way of letting Gilbert know that it wasn’t his fault. And, well, he decided to go with the most obvious way he could think of.

Matthew shook his head, running one hand through snowy hair before kissing first Gilbert’s cheek, then his lips. “You didn’t do anything wrong. I…I just though I did. But never mind, I’m sorry.”

Gilbert sighed as he felt the kiss on his cheek, then leaned into the next. When Matthew spoke, Gilbert looked at the younger man for a moment as he brushed his head. Then he chuckled and pulled him in for a genuine hug. The albino pressed his nose to the blond's neck and murmured.

"No, it's okay. I'm just too sensitive around you I guess." He sighed, ruffling Mattie's hair with his breath. "Way to chop a guy's proverbial balls off." He chuckled against skin and kissed just under the other man's ear.
