    Week 11 - Roderich/Alfred Empty Week 11 - Roderich/Alfred

Post  Alfred F. Jones Wed Dec 15, 2010 4:52 pm

The abbess should have told him that she was going to get rid of him, Alfred thought with a sigh. After all, he was the only male being in the whole goddamn abbey - oh my, did he just curse with God's name? "I'm such a bad boy," he whined.

But everything was forgotten at the sight of that...house. Or mansion to be more precise. Alfred gaped at the enormous size, it was almos intimidating. The grip around the handle of his petite suitcase tightened and he slowly moved his head to both his sides with unease.

But the birds and trees and flowers around that mansion seemed to be giving him some comfort, so the whole surrounding wasn't that scary anymore. Also, he suddenly felt like singing. He began moving forward with small steps, tapped, forward, tapped. He went on until there was a rhythm in his steps. Then he added a light swing of his arms, then a spin on tiptoes. The birds were louder now and Alfred started to hum a tune.

    "Climb every mountain,
    Search high and low,
    Follow every highway,
    Every path you know."

His voice resounded crystal clear, every tune and every word speaking of his feelings at the moment. He just hoped that nice people would be living in that mansion, but that wasn't his concern at all. At least not at the moment. He was too preoccupied by the different scenery that was not like the abbey at all. It had always been his dream to discover the world outside and to sing songs all day long.

    He raised his voice again.

    "Climb every mountain,
    Ford every stream,
    Follow every rainbow,
    'Till you find your dream.

    A dream that will need
All the love you can give,
    Every day of your life
For as long as you live."

Sitting at his piano, Roderich was prepared for an afternoon of peaceful solitude. The staff had been waved away, or given stern looks until they left; he had perfectly brewed Mokka; the large windows let bright sunlight filter into the otherwise dim and lonely room where he kept his beloved instrument. He was all alone, accompanied only by a slight breeze and distantly chirping birds, and that was just what he preferred. He lowered his fingers to the keys, and prepared to play.

No sooner had he hit a note, than he heard someone else do the same, but with their voice; a loud, clear voice that sounded alarmingly close. He stared at the window in surprise, and then annoyance. He couldn't see anyone, but they sounded like they were approaching. It wasn't a bad voice- in fact it was very good- but it was ear-achingly loud in the surrounding silence, and more to the point, the song had sickeningly positive lyrics. It was too early for this, even if it was the middle of the day. Roderich stood, abandoning coffee and music to find this nuisance and have them escorted off his property.

The servants in the hall ducked out of his way as he strode towards the front door, with an expression that indicated someone was about to get a sharp lecture. When he reached it, he threw it open, staring out into the blinding mountain sun for the source of the disturbance. Honestly, who actually skipped through a forest singing?

    Week 11 - Roderich/Alfred Empty Re: Week 11 - Roderich/Alfred

Alfred stopped abruptly, his song interrupted by a grumpy looking man, staring at him with utter dismay. He looked down, ashamed. Now he was reminded of the reason why he was sent away in the first place. Singing was his passion, but his voice was always so loud, it could be heard all over the abbey and thus disturbing the meditation of silence of the nuns. "I-I'm sorry, sir...I."

He took deep breath and raised his head once again, this time with a bright smile. "My name is Alfred Jones, sir! Pleased to meet you! I was supposed to help you out in your...er, house. Big house. Huge house?" What was the correct term for big houses? He didn't know.

Roderich scrutinised the young man from his doorway. Loud voice, bright expression, and a seemingly sunny disposition...oh, perfect. But he seemed to have some manners, at least. Roderich didn't recall hiring any more staff, but then again, he often left that sort of thing to his housekeeper; perhaps she'd taken the boy on. Regardless, it wasn't as if he cared how many people worked there, as long as they did their jobs...and didn't annoy him.

'Where did you come from? Did someone here offer you a job...?' He stepped out to meet the boy, looking him over; everything about him was bright and somehow energetic, a sharp contrast to Roderich's own pale face and reserved manner. 'And may I ask your name?'
